Wall Play and Puck Battles

Wall play and puck battles are critical skills in competitive hockey.

Our training emphasizes:

  • Pucks on the Wall: Handling rimmed pucks, bouncing pucks, bank passes, and
    rebounds with confidence.
  • Body Positioning: Create space, maintain balance, and take away the defender’s
    advantage using effective body contact.
  • Stick Work: Master key techniques such as lifts, swipes, pokes, and jabs to gain puck
    control.
  • Puck Protection: Use advanced techniques like shoulder drops, 10-2 pivots, and
    strategic puck positioning to shield the puck.
  • Races and Battles: Engage in competitive races and lane battles while learning the art
    of initiating contact to create uncertainty.
  • Scanning: Stay aware of surroundings, teammates, and opponents to make smart,
    strategic plays.
  • 50-50 Puck Decisions: Improve decision-making when battling for loose pucks and take
    control of critical situations.
